Simona asked a great question today on Facebook so I wanted to see what you all wanted to do. Should we start with the introduction and chapter one (which is 26 pages) or part 1 (which is 69 pages)? I am fine with either but want to do whatever is easier for you. Another option is that I can put up discussion starters for each chapter and you can comment when you have had a chance to read that specific chapter. That might be the easiest thing to do since this the end of vacation season. :-/
I would love to hear your thoughts on how to handle this first book. Most people had indicated that they wanted to play things by ear on this first book. What do you think, how should we proceed? Please let me know. Thanks!
I vote for Chapter 1 first, and then a schedule of some sort, but openness for ongoing discussion on particular chapters. That keeps the first wave of people kind of together for vital conversation, but it keeps things open for those who might want to catch up.
ReplyDeleteI've had this book around for a couple of months and look forward to the prod to actually read it. :-)
whatever the majority want will work for me. I read this book in May, so I will just be reviewing it and digging into it further.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for the input! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think the ultimate question is: how long are we going to discuss the book, and with what frequency? If it's once a week over the course of a month (or so), I'd say let's keep it grouped by Parts (4 parts, 4 weeks plus a little for Appendices). If you wanted to discuss it with more frequency (daily), then maybe breaking it down by chapter would be good (18 chapters). I like the idea of weekly "meetings" via teleconference or chat because it would be easier to schedule. So my preference is to group by Parts (but I'm open).
ReplyDeleteI'm open for either! Slower is probably better for me, but not all chapters are going to need the extra time to discuss and absorb.
